Operating theatre

A single air-conditioned theatre with an articulated table, overhead surgical lighting, anaesthetic monitoring and sterilised instrument drums. Caesareans, gallbladder, hernia, piles, fistula and tonsil operations are done here, by the visiting surgeon on duty.

Cabins and wards

Air-conditioned private cabins with a window, an attendant's chair and space for one family member to stay. Beyond the cabins there are separate general wards for men and women, as the service board sets out.

Reception and waiting

One desk handles registration, consultant booking and test payment. Rates for every test are on the wall behind it, so the price is agreed before anything is ordered rather than after.

Pharmacy

The dispensary at the front of the building stocks the medicines prescribed upstairs, so a prescription does not mean a second trip. It opens onto the bus stand road alongside the hospital entrance.

Operations on the board in reception are quoted twice — once as a package, once with medicines included. The difference between the two figures is what the medicines cost.
